COTTAGE GROVE — Welcome to a new way to sweat.

Orangetheory Fitness, an 8-year-old fitness company founded in Florida with a new approach to working out, will move into the former Payless ShoeSource this fall.

Payless closed in April 2017 after the corporation filed for bankruptcy. The building has been vacant since then.

Trace Martin, franchise owner of the Woodbury Orangetheory location, will be opening the Cottage Grove location.

Martin could not be reached at press time.

Cottage Grove will be one of about 500 that are currently in the works, and join about 1,000 already operating.

Orangetheory is marketed as a different kind of workout, by using what the company calls post-exercise oxygen consumption. The idea is that during the one-hour workout classes, each participant's heart rate is monitored specifically to increase energy, metabolism and the post-workout calorie burn.

Orangetheory Fitness, according to the company website, is named after color theory. In color theory, each hue is supposed to evoke a different response, with orange summoning energy and health.
